Proven Orthotics & Prosthetics Expertise

Methodist Orthotics & Prosthetics, the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in Mississippi, creates customized artificial limbs and braces in a state-of-the-art laboratory. Using the most advanced computer-assisted design technology available, we produce sophisticated prosthetic devices in a fraction of the time once required. Our CAD system delivers a digital image of each patient’s residual limb that provides a precise cutting pattern for our automatic carver. This technique, available for most patients, spares them from undergoing messy plaster casting methods and ensures that their sockets fit comfortably and function well. And because the digital image is kept on file, exact replicas of each socket can be quickly fabricated.

At Methodist, a free consultation in the morning can lead to a prosthetic fitting that afternoon, a procedure that might take weeks at another facility. And to make the process even more convenient, we are now the only accredited orthotics and prosthetics facility in Mississippi to take our expertise on the road. Our specially equipped mobile lab makes it possible for our certified orthotists and prosthetists to deliver high-tech services to patients in clinics across Mississippi and Louisiana.

But technology doesn’t stand alone.

Experience and teamwork set us apart.

Methodist Othotics and Prosthetics employs more board certified staff than any facility in the area, specializing in everything from advanced myo-electric design and microprocessor control systems to geriatric and dysvascular patient care. Our clinical staff is trained to the highest standards in the industry.

We employ clinicians who have studied at the finest universities for orthotic and prosthetic education and completed residencies in their chosen fields. Through extensive training and ongoing education, we bring the latest and most appropriate care to our area.

Through services such as specialized clinics for people who use prostheses, patients receive personalized care from a team that includes a rehabilitation physician, a prosthetist, and physical therapist.

Methodist Orthotics and Prosthetics serves all ages, providing state-of-the-art designs for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. And because of the large volume of patients we treat, Methodist Orthotics and Prosthetics is able to participate in product testing for some of the most advanced devices in the orthotics and prosthetics field. We were one of the first sites in the nation to fit patients with the Otto Bock C-Leg—the world’s first completely microprocessor controlled artificial leg.

The Methodist Orthotics and Prosthetics team offers free consultations. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call 800-223-6672 (ext. 8899).

Otto Bock C-Leg

The Otto Bock C-Leg is a microprocessor-controlled hydraulic knee that functions as a regular knee would. Sensors on the knee adapt to the wearer’s movements. Prosthetic practitioners can fine-tune the leg by connecting it into a computer.

Operation Restoration

Methodist Orthotics and Prosthetics, working together with the U.S. Army, Otto Bock HealthCare and FedEx, established a free clinic for Iraqi civilian amputees in Baghdad. The effort was led by Steve Lindsley, manager of our Louisiana clinic and a major in the Mississippi National Guard’s 112th Military Police Battalion from Canton, Miss. More than 100 people, including many children, have been helped since the clinic was established in August, 2004.
